Happy Easter!

First let me say Happy Easter to everyone! I'm pretty sure that this was my first Easter away from my family and even though I missed them, we still had a wonderful weekend. We decided we would celebrate Easter on Saturday so that Luke and Ashton could do their Easter Egg Hunt together. We divided the yard in two and both boys did great finding their eggs. They were so fun to watch and they just couldn't wait to find all their eggs. Although, I think they had more fun opening all the plastic eggs and seeing what kind of candy they got from the Easter Bunny. After the thrill of the eggs wore off, we had a light lunch and the boys ran in circles around the yard. They are finally old enough we can just let them play outside together and not have to stand 2 feet behind them. They had so much and it was so fun to watch them.

Since we already had our Easter Egg Hunt, I decided we would just do a small Easter lesson today. We watched the first session of General Conference while eating our favorite breakfast, french toast. Then I gave Ashton a little lesson on the true celebration of Easter. Thank you Trina for the wonderful lesson idea, Ashton LOVED it. Then we watched a cartoon video about Easter. It was a nice reminder, even for me, of the true reason we celebrate Easter. It was a quiet day with just the three (almost 4) of us. It was a day to reflect and be thankful for our blessings and the wonderful gift of the atonement that our Savior gave to us. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday. I hope both our families know how much we love and miss them.

Cute Ashton

Ashton just LOVES taking pictures now and he is constantly cracking me up. It seems in the past few weeks he has just grown up. My first little baby is now a big boy, even a little man. He has such a distinct personality and truly is his own little person. He definitely is opinionated and likes doing things a certain way. We just bought him some new pajamas and thought he looked cute so I took some pictures. The next morning I walked in his room to check on him and he had all his dinosaurs out and lined up. He sets him room up in little stations and plays with certain groupings of toys. Needles to say by the end of the day every toy was out, but he was having fun and being creative. I just had to take a pictures of him and his dinosaurs. Normally they are eating each other and in a big pile so it's nice to see him evolve in his playing methods. Not sure when he grew up, but I just adore him and am thankful to be his mommy.

*In one of these pictures he looks just like my little brother Trenton. Mom can you guess which one?

Decorating Easter Eggs

Since Easter was this week, we had to have a little decorating Easter Egg party to prepare for the festivities. Krystle, Dan, and Luke came over to decorate the eggs. The boys played outside while we boiled the eggs and got the supplies together. Then we called them inside to decorate. I must saw that I was really impressed on how well they did. They didn't make a single mess and followed our instructions perfectly. It was so much fun to watch them decorate. They find each other hilarious and are always laughing. They were very proud of there eggs and couldn't wait for the Easter Bunny to hide them. Such cute boys, I am so happy that they are such good friends. We love having them over and were glad they could come decorate with us.

Hiking in Red Rock

Another one of our fun adventures this week was meeting our friends the Nelsons at Red Rock Canyon to go hiking. We haven't done this since last summer so it was definitely time to get out and explore. Ashton loves being outside and he does really well hiking so it was the perfect morning activity. The kids loved climbing through the rocks, small caves, and throwing rocks. We just love being outside and it actually turned out to be a really nice day. Ashton had so much fun he asks me every morning if we are going to go to the park or the mountains that day. I am so happy that I have a child that loves the outdoors as much as I do. Now that the weather is getting nicer, we are able to spend more time outside and we are loving it. Last time we went to Red Rock I didn't take any pictures, so here is a bunch to make up for it. Ashton is getting so good about posing for pictures that its hard to choose the best. It was a wonderful morning and we had so much fun spending time with our friends.
