First Sewing Project

This last week I was lucky enough to have my sister (her two kids) and my mom come to visit. They brought me my sewing table and help me organize and set up my sewing area of my office. Since everything was organized and ready to use, of course we had to start a project. I have sewed a quilt when I was eight and then made my Christmas stockings two years ago, but don't really have a clue how to sew anything else.

For our first project, we made tote bags. My mom guided me every step of the way so I could learn all the steps for myself. It was so much fun to have them here, the kids had a blast playing together. My tote bag turned out so cute! I even did lining on the inside and added a pocket. The next day we started another project, but since I am finishing it later today, I will save that for it's own post. The kids were good little troopers and even the cats never left our sides while working on our projects. Sam made himself a cozy little bed in my sewing box, he wanted to be part of the party :).

Aaron's Father's Day

What a busy weekend we had! Aaron's birthday and fathers day all in one. Since Father's day is on a Sunday, we spent the morning at church. Aaron looked very handsome dressed up in his best suit. After church (and Ashton's nap of course) we decided to head back up to the mountains and see what else we could find. There is no better way to spend a Sunday, but together as a family exploring the beautiful world around us. We ate dinner at a cute little restaurant on the mountain. We sat next to the window and all you could see is the valley and mountains below, it was truly beautiful. Aaron had some of the best ribs he ever had so it made for an excellent Father's Day Dinner. We found other trails and camping sites we would like to visit in the future. It is so beautiful at Mt. Charleston that we love spending time up there, even if we don't go hiking.

Aaron's B-day

This past weekend we celebrated Aaron's 26th Birthday. I decorated the house while he was at work Friday night and made his favorite yellow cake with chocolate frosting. We went to dinner with our family here in town and enjoyed cake and ice cream at our house. Luke and Ashton ran around playing and were so cute. As soon as cake an ice cream came around I have never seen them so quiet and sit perfectly still. We had a lot fun and were glad we could share this special time together. Ashton loved helping daddy blow out the candles and dive into the cake!

Father's Day

This was the first year I wasn't home for Father's Day. So I just wanted to tell my dad I miss him and love him very much. You truly are the best dad ever and I appreciate all the words of wisdom you have shared with me through my life time. This is one of my favorite pictures of us. I always was daddy's little girl, and I always will be (even though I live a little further away).

Happy Father's Day!

I'm not the only one who is missing their daddy today, Aaron is also away from his father. Dan is a wonderful and loving man. He is someone I am glad to call Dad too. I know Aaron misses him greatly and misses their hunting and fishing trips. We are looking forward for his visit out here. We miss and love you too!
