*P.S. Don't ask me why Ashton is making funny smile faces, but this is his new smile face for now. He is so silly sometimes.

Karate Class
This past week Ashton started his first Karate class. I have been wanting to sign him up for a weekly class for a long time and finally found one that worked with his school schedule that I thought would be fun. Of course he had no idea what was going on, but was still excited to be a part of a class. His friend Audrey from preschool is in the same class so I was hoping he would follow her good example. The boys in the class were crazy and the girls all listened and followed instructions. It was a rough first class, but Ashton loved it. I'm sure after a few more classes he will figure it out and follow instructions better. Something new is always exciting and as long as he is having fun, then it's worth it to me. Hopefully it will just be fun exercise for him and he won't take the kicking and punching literally :). The teacher is great and must have an extreme amount of patience! Our next set of classes will be swimming lesson in June and hopefully start soccer in the fall. This age is so fun, I love that he loves being active and loves to learn. Let's hope this is a trend he will keep for the rest of his life!

Field Trips
Even though I am about ready to have a baby, May is just a crazy month for anyone. Ashton's teacher has just done such a wonderful job with his preschool. We have gone on all sorts of field trips this year. The last two field trips were to Albertsons and Petco. I forgot my camera for the Albertsons trip, but they were lead around the store and given all sorts of food samples. They even got to pet a real live lobster named Louie. At the beginning they gave them a bag full of goodies and a fireman hat. They each wore their hats and carried their bags around the store. The boys are so cute, it's fun to watch them.
The following week we headed to Petco. On this field trip, they were escorted around to each of the animal areas and even allowed to pet some of the animals. In California Ferrets are illegal to own and much to my surprise that is NOT the case in Nevada. The boys were able to see Ferrets and even pet one. The other animal they were allowed to pet was rat. They thought this was pretty cool. I would have to say that I think their favorite was the fish's and the reptiles. Ashton got a kick out of the turtle and sat and watched him for quit awhile. It was fun taking him to a pet store and actually let him enjoy all the different kinds of animals. The field trips were a lot of fun and it even more fun to see Ashton lite up and excited face. It's moments like these that make me happy to be a mom. Thanks for the great trips Mrs. Moore.

Ashton's First Gun
Recently Ashton and Aaron have been wanting to go shooting every weekend. Since Ashton is only 3, I'm a little apprehensive about him learning to shoot so young. Plus when your 9 months pregnant, going out to the middle of the hot desert to stand around doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun (even though I love shooting). Needless to say, the boys haven't gone, but continue to ask me each weekend. Well Aaron and I decided on a compromise and we bought Ashton his first BB Gun. It's small, relatively harmless, and they can shoot in the back yard. Ashton was so excited! Aaron got some sand bags and set up a little shooting area for them. Ashton had his first shooting lesson with Aaron today and tank was never to far behind them. It was a good compromise and I am comfortable with Ashton learning basic safety with a BB Gun as opposed to a real gun. It was so cute to watch the two of them spend time together. Ashton loved and can't wait to do it again.
On a side note, Aaron has joked about making Tank his bird dog when he goes hunting. The other day they were out walking and a couple pigeons came down from the roof and were in the front yard. Tank saw the birds and got excited. Aaron told him to sit and then took off the leash. He told him to sneak and Tank quietly and slowly tip toed up towards the birds, then Aaron said get it and Tank caught a pigeon in mid flight! I can't believe he was able to sneak up on them and then catch one. Aaron took the pigeon right away, and yes it was dead. This made Aaron so excited, who knew we had a good hunting dog. Seeing as how he has learned how to open our screen door, nothing Tank does surprises me anymore. He is such a smart dog and really has become a part of the family.

Sewing Projects
So this past week I have actually been able to get some sewing done. For Vicky's Birthday and Mother's Day present I decided to make her some table center pieces for her house (first two pictures). Once I finished them, back in like March, I LOVED them so much that I just had to make some for myself as well. I was only able to make the sunflower table runner so far, but I love it and love having it on my table. I extended mine to be a full table runner instead of one square.
I also got back my king quilt and was able to finish the binding on that. Who knew that you still had to do some sewing by hand. It took me about four days to hand sew the binding on the quilt. It took a couple hours each side, so I just squeezed it in when I could. Since I have my new beautiful quilt, I had to make some coordinating pillow cases. These are the first pillow cases I have made by myself. I still have to make the pillow shams, so you won't see a complete picture of my bed set yet. These are just pictures of the past few things I have completed. I have really enjoyed learning new techniques and improving my skills. I love sewing and want to learn how to make clothes. It's part of the fun of having a little girl, now I can learn how to make dresses, skirts, and shirts. I can't wait!

*PS I should finish my shams this next week and then I can finally post my entire bed set :)

Ashton - Growing Up
I know I constantly say this, but I can't believe how much Ashton is growing up lately. Other than the fact he looks like a little man, he acts like a little man too. I took him to get his hair cut this week and it was the first time he would sit in the chair all by himself. He hopped right in the chair, let the stylist put on the cape, and didn't scream or yell or cry a bit. He just sat there perfectly still eating his sucker while she cut his hair. This made me ecstatic as I hate being covered in hair just so he could sit on my lap.
This week, Ashton noticed that he had some freckles on his arm. He asked me what they were and I said they are called freckles, they are special angel kisses. He looked at me and said oh I have sprinkles. Now he points out my freckles and says, mommy has lots of sprinkles too!
Another mile stone this week was Ashton finally learning to ride his bike all by himself. Our back patio isn't quit big enough for him to ride bikes and he hasn't shown much interest in it till now. I took him to the park this week with his bike so he had room to really practice riding. He is now able to start and stop by himself, steer and maneuver around all sorts of obstacles. He is figuring out that he can go fast and slow and is loving every minute of it. Yes he still has training wheels, but this is a huge first step in learning to ride a bike. I am so proud of him and it's fun to watch him ride around. If we keep working on it everyday, I just might get his training wheels off sooner than later. At the bottom is a little video clip of him riding his bike. I think it's so cute he wears a helmet. He knows he can't ride without it, so it was a good first lesson in safety. I know riding his bike will now be one of his favorite things to do, I just might have to get one myself so I can keep up :)!

Newest Member of the Family
No I didn't have Kaylynn early, but we did adopt a puppy over the weekend. I know your thinking we must be crazy since we have a new baby on the way, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to bring him home.
His name is Tank and he is a 1 year old pure bread German Shepherd. He is black and tan and probably one of the best looking shepherds I have seen. He is pretty much full grown, so if your thinking he looks huge, he is. He previous owners were awesome and had already trained him really well. He was already potty trained, crate trained, and knows all the basic commands. This is much better than getting a six week puppy and having to do it all yourself. We spent the entire first day with him helping him transition to his new home. I don't think we left his side for three days so he would know us, love us, and respect us. He truly is an amazing dog and I have loved having him so far. We have already taken him to the mountains and he loved it as much as we do.
Ashton and Tank are probably the cutest couple I have seen. Ashton can give him commands and Tank listens. They chase each other around the yard and play fetch. This was the best buddy we could have given Ashton and every day he can't wait to play with them. I can actually sit outside and relax and just watch the two of them play. Aaron takes him for a run everyday and I take him for a short walk. He has lots of energy of course, but it keeps us all on our toes and we all love playing with him. He's a great companion to us all and I feel safe just having him there.
The biggest challenge has been getting the cats used to their new brother. This has been an interesting and funny process. Diamond still thinks she is bigger than the dog so she charged right him hissing away to show her dominance. I think she thinks she a big dog. The other day we fed Tank some wet food outside and we had left the slider open. Diamond came sneaking up under the lawn furniture starting eating his food and hissed at him as if he was eating her food. Tank just walked away and laid in the grass. Aaron and I just started laughing and couldn't believe she had the balls to take his bowl. They are doing much better together, but this transition will still take some getting used to for all the pets. He is an awesome dog and we are excited to have him.

Our Week
Well one would think that since I'm 36 weeks pregnant now that I would start taking it easy and some much needed rest. Well that just isn't me! Last week, we discovered that we had a mouse problem in our garage. We bought poison and sticky sheets trying to catch them and it wasn't working (even though they were eating the poison). So Aaron finally bought the old fashioned traps and started catching them within an hour. Within 24 hours he caught and killed 8 mice. Then the work began. Now that we had killed them all, we had to clean out our entire garage, go through every box, and make sure we caught them all and that they weren't hiding anywhere. At first this was an easy task and then I started looking at all my baby stuff and reminiscing. I found a ton of pictures which I decided should be scrap-booked and brought inside. Needless to say this was an all day event, but it left our garage smelling like Pinesol and looking the cleanest it has ever been. I just finished the scrapbook today of the 400 pictures I found in my boxes.
Of course the fun doesn't stop here. Since that was a boring day, we decided we would go hiking again out at Red Rock and find new trails to explore. Of course I can't go as far as I used to go, but it is still fun to wonder around and let Ashton enjoy the great outdoors. Our trip to California wore me out so we did a lot of playing at home and the park. They finally turned the water features back on at the park and Ashton just LOVES playing in the water. We have been to the park almost every day this past week just playing and enjoying the sunshine. Its really been a nice week of just spending time with each other. The only pictures I took were our trip to Red Rock and boy are my boys handsome! With all this activity, I'm pretty sure Kaylynn is going to come out running and ready to go and posing for pictures.
