St. George Trip

Over Fourth of July weekend, we went on our first family trip that wasn't to visit family! We decided it would be fun to go to St. George since it's close and we could easily do a two day trip.  I found  a great deal on this little hotel that came with a free buffet breakfast and it was actually really good!  We drove up in the afternoon so we went to dinner, went swimming and rested up for our day of hiking.  The next day we drove to Zion to spend the day.

Zion was so beautiful and we had so much fun.  We did a morning hike and then had lunch.  We took a tram to another hike and went till these pools and trickling waterfall.  Ashton did an amazing job hiking and Kaylynn thoroughly enjoyed being the queen of Sheba in her chair!  After our two hikes we decided to ride the tram all the way through Zion park.  After we got back to our car, we had to drive through the really long tunnel that goes right through the mountain.  The kids loved the tunnel and couldn't believe how dark it was.

After our exhausting day of hiking and heat, Ashton still had enough energy to go swimming.  We had dinner and happily crawled into bed for a great nights rest.  The last day of our trip we drove through the historic downtown of St. George.  We also stopped by the temple and walked through the visitors center.  It was such a fun trip.  I also drove Aaron by my old house and high school.  I couldn't believe how much St. George has changed in 12 years.  We had a blast and it was a perfect little get away for the weekend.  It's definitely a trip will we have to do again.

 

Kyle's Blessing

This past June, we went to California to be apart of Baby Kyle's Blessing.  This was such a wonderful weekend because so much family gathered together.  I don't think I have ever seen such a large circle around one baby!  My sister did a great job and threw an awesome party.  There was a park right down the street from the church.  So after church we headed to the park where there were picnic tables.  Everyone had a food assignment to bring for lunch and my sister rented a bounce house for the kids to play in.  Ashton had so much fun.  Since most of their families live close there were kids running everywhere, which Ashton thought was really cool.  I don't think he ever came out of the bounce house.   Kaylynn was happy to have so many people want to chase her and hold her.  I LOVED seeing everyone and catching.  It was a great weekend and we were glad we could be apart of such a special event.  Kyle has grown so much since these pictures, but he is just a handsome little man.  We love you Kyle!

Baby Kyle

Another fun March event was welcoming baby Kyle into the family. I originally had planned on waiting till the end of April to come see him, but I couldn't help myself and the kids and I took off for a trip to see him within the first week of him being born. How could we stay away from such an adorable baby! He was so handsome and so small. After my 8 lb 9 oz angel came out, little 6+ lb Kyle seemed so small. It was a really nice visit with my sister. The kids all played and we got to relax holding our little ones. We were so happy to make the trip to see him. Jayne and Ashton had a blast playing in the water in the backyard. It was only march, but it was beautiful and hot they had a blast, which is all that really matters. It was a great trip, and we loved meeting our new nephew/cousin :).

* Yes Ashton is in his underwear! Who knew it was going to be hot while we were in town, it was still technically winter!

**The brown quilt Kyle is wrapped in was made by my mom. She did a fantastic job, it turned out beautiful.

Discovery Museum

While we were in Washington, I was able to get together with one of my bestest friends Lauren. We don't get to see each other very often, but I am grateful for the times that we do get. She has a daughter that is four weeks younger then Ashton. Since we had the kids, we decided it would be fun to go to the discovery museum. We met right after it opened and spent most of the day there. The kids ran around for hours and had so much fun playing with and touching everything. Luckily we had Aaron with us so he could run after the kids and Lauren and I could talk and catch up. Ashton and Makiah have very similar personalities and it was one of those days were they meshed perfectly. They had photo booths in different areas of the museum and both of them wanted to get the picture taken. I wish we could have videoed their time in the booth. They made at least 100 faces and and never stopped posing. It was so much fun to watch them. It was a wonderful day and I am so grateful that we were able to get together. Lauren and Makiah, we love and miss you! Thanks for such a great day, we all had fun, can't wait to see you again.

Washington Trip

February was a traveling month for us. First the kids and I went to visit my family in California for a short weekend trip. Then we returned home and two days later were on a plane to visit Aaron's family in Washington. The kids did great on the plane. Ashton was so excited to fly, he was a little squirmy, but I think he did awesome for a four year old. Kaylynn was her happy self and since she was on my lap, she was happy.

We spent 5 days in Puyallup and we had so much fun. Ashton and Grandma played all day everyday. They would walk to the park and play in the yard. We were so lucky that it was sunny and beautiful the entire time we were there. The day after we left, it snowed so we totally lucked out. We didn't do anything fancy, we just wanted to visit and spend time with our family. I did get to see my friend Lauren, but I made a seperate post for our day. It was so wonderful getting to see everyone and spend time with them. We don't get to see Aaron's family very often, so it makes our visits that much more special.

Mom and Dad thanks for all the wonderful toys and clothes and goodies you got for us while we were there. Melissa thanks for the yummy dinner, I'm glad we could return the favor when you visited us. Thanks Grandpa for letting us stay at your house and for taking us to dinner. We loved meeting Carol, she is a wonderful lady. We love and miss you all and look forward to our next trip.

Of course, Mom took like 200 pictures while we were there and we managed to get some family photos too. We always tease her about pictures, but I am always grateful that I have them. I had to pick just a few to share, but I have lots lots more :).
